Analysis of incomplete two-period crossover trials with SAS PROC MIXED

چکیده

Different methods for analysing normally distributed data from a simple two-period, two-treatment crossover trial with SAS/STAT are explored. Special emphasis is given to trials in which some data from one of the two periods are missing. The size and the power of the statistical tests are investigated by simulating data under various scenarios. To select the most suitable method for a particular trial the number and pattern of the available data and the covariance structure of the variables must be considered. The paper is rather application oriented and empirical in nature and touches on theory on few occasions only.

Sp 02 Sas @ Application in 2 * 2 Crossover Clinical Trial

Crossover clinical trial design attracts a lot of attention in today’s drug development environment because of its unique characteristics. This paper will start with an introduction of a 2 * 2 crossover clinical trial design, then a review of advantages and disadvantages of cross over studies compared with parallel studies. Different types of SAS procedure, such as PROC TTEST, PROC GLM and PROC...

Like Wine , the TTEST Procedure Improves with Age

PROC TTEST is an old reliable among SAS/STAT procedures, testing hypotheses about means of one and two normal samples. While this is a narrow class of analyses, it’s an important class, with key applications in all areas of science, including clinical trials. Recent updates to the TTEST procedure make it an even more powerful tool for the statistician. The enhancements include: • Equivalence te...

Analysis of Longitudinal Data: Comparison between PROC GLM and PROC MIXED

Longitudinal data refers to datasets with multiple measurements of a response variable on the same experimental unit made over a period of time. These types of data require special attention because they involve correlated data. The relationships between repeated measurements are important in assessing reliability and tracking of those measurements. The proper variancecovariance structure in th...

A Pragmatic Intent-to-Treat Analysis Using SAS

Intent-to-treat analyses are warranted in clinical trials, which usually contain right-censored data due to treatment failures or dropouts. An explanatory analysis, easily achieved with PROC MIXED, assumes data missing at random, which is not the case in clinical trials since the dropouts are often associated with the treatment assignments (Little and Rubin, 1987). A pragmatic analysis (Hogan a...

Meta-Analysis Using SAS PROC MIXED 1 META-ANALYSIS USING LINEAR MIXED MODELS

Psychologists often use special computer programs to perform meta-analysis. Until recently, this had been necessary because standard statistical packages did not provide procedures for such analysis. This paper introduces linear mixed models as a framework for meta-analysis in psychological research, using a popular general-purpose statistical package, SAS. The approach is illustrated with thre...
